SCORE!!!

Boy did I ever get lucky a couple of nights ago. My pretending to be a little dog really paid off. Cole was making a sandwich in the kitchen. Then he left to go talk to dad. It was a meatloaf sandwich and it smelled so good. It was just sitting there on the cutting board. So I stretched up big and I ate the whole thing. It tasted so good. When Cole got back to the kitchen he was really mad. But I was happy because I had a good sandwich all to myself.

And I'm gonna be sure to log off this time so Chloe can't get on and post anything. If she wants to have her say she needs to get her own blog.

Chloe's Turn

Finally! Now I get to have my say. Dumb old Jack forgot to log out of his diary so I got on and am gonna post whatever I want. First off, Jack is as dumb as a brick! I can steal his food any time I want to. He is so slow when he eats and is dumb enough to leave his bowl when it still has food in it. Sometimes I pretend that I heard a noise outside, like a squirrel or a cat prowling in our yard. All I have to do is mention it to Jack and he will run outside to check on it. Then I just go over to his bowl and eat all of his food. Ha ha ha.

Second, I hate other dogs. I tolerate Jack because I have to live with him, but all other dogs better stay out of my way. I will bark at anyone and anything that gets in my way. I even made a baby cry once because I barked at it. No mercy.

Third, I have no intention of going outside when it is freezing cold out there. I have my limits and I do NOT want to relieve myself out in the freezing cold. I prefer the warmth of the house and the nice soft carpet. If you want me to go outside, put a heater out there.

Fourth, I rule this house. I am the princess and I am cuter than any other dog on the planet and I know it!

Prison Break Beagle Style

Boy have we ever got Mom stumped. Now that it is cold and wet outside she puts us in the crate in the morning before she leaves for work. On Thursday we were locked into the crate as usual. But when Mom came home at the end of her day she could hear us barking right on the other side of the front door. She opened the door and there we were to greet her, with the door to our crate standing wide open. She cannot figure out how we got out of the crate. She is positive she locked it. She keeps asking us how we got out, but we're not tellin'!

The Waterbed

Mom & Dad need to get their own bed. We OWN the waterbed. We spend 95% of our day sleeping on the waterbed. When we aren't eating or chasing squirrels or beagle wrestling we're sleeping on the waterbed. But when Mom and Dad are home they come in and sleep on the waterbed and it really messes us up. Chloe likes to sleep under all the pillows, but Mom and Dad like to sleep with their heads on top of the pillows, so then Chloe has to move. I like to sleep up near the pillows too. But when Mom & Dad are in the bed then I am too crowded and I have to move down to the foot of the bed. It's not fair. If possession is 9/10 of the law then the waterbed is ours. So Mom & Dad need to get their own bed.

Daylight Savings Time?!?!?

Maybe I can't read a clock, ..... well, OK, I can't read a clock, but I do know how to tell what time it is. I know what time I am supposed to get fed. It's 5 o'clock ... not 4 .... not 6... but 5! So how come every year at this time it gets switched on me? I start getting all excited and ready for my dinner and I know when it is TIME, but I don't get fed. I have to wait. Tonight Mom is sitting there at her computer and Chloe and I are trying to tell her it is TIME for dinner. We paw at her and do the I'm-hungry-dance, but she won't feed us. She keeps saying it's too early, like I know what that means. Then after FOREVER has passed, she finally feeds us. Why do we have to wait? Mom says it's because something called daylight savings time is over. I don't know what that is but I don't like it one bit.

Chloe is a PIG

Did I tell you I hate Chloe? Well I do. She is a pig. She wolfs her food down whole, and she always finishes eating way before me. I have much better manners. I chew each piece of my kibble and take my time. Sometimes I even get distracted by something and leave my bowl to go check it out. Tonight I left my bowl and Chloe ate all my food. I was so hungry and I wanted more food. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know how to tell Dad I was still starving. Then Mom came home from work. I barked and barked at her and ran into the kitchen and did my hungry dance. She asked dad if he had fed me. He said that of course he had. But Mom was watching me bark and dance around the kitchen and she knew I wanted something. So I hit the food container with my paw and knocked it over. Then I hit it again and danced some more. And then Mom and Dad finally figured out that I was hungry. So Mom gave me more food. Thank goodness! I thought for sure I was gonna starve to death. Chloe is a PIG!

Chloe is mean

Chloe is a bitch. I hate her. She is mean and she doesn't share. Mom bought us some cow hooves to chew on. Chloe didn't like them but I sure did. I have been chewing and chewing and chewing on them. Then just when I get it chewed down to a nice size Chloe steals it. I couldn't steal it back because Chloe is mean and she snaps at me and I am afraid of her even though I am bigger than her. I went and told Mom. Mom gave me a new chew toy. She gave me a rawhide bone. I liked that too. I was chewing on it a lot and then I got distracted by a noise in the yard and I went outside to see what it was. When I came back in Chloe had stolen my rawhide chew too. I hate her.

Stealing Food

Chloe is a squirt. She's just a little 13" beagle. But I am a big boy. I am a 15" beagle. Well, actually Mom & Dad suspect that I am mixed with something else, perhaps a fox hound, because I am bigger than most 15" beagles and have a few different things about me. Anyway, because I am a big boy I can really stretch out. But when Mom & Dad are around I act like I am a little boy. When there is food in the kitchen I just barely stand up like I am trying really hard to smell all the good food but just can't reach it. But if they aren't looking I can't resist the temptation and sometimes I steal food. Last night Mom made some corn on the cob for dinner. It smelled so good. So being as quiet as I could I stole a half of an ear of corn that was on a plate on the counter. Mom noticed that it was gone, but she just thought Dad had eaten it. Dad likes corn on the cob.

When Mom was getting ready to go to bed she noticed Chloe standing between the love seat and the table in the living room and she wondered what Chloe was doing. Chloe was sniffing at a half-eaten ear of corn. Mom picked it up and threw it away. I think I need to find a better hiding place for my treasures.

9-17-2009 Apologizing to Jack

My dog Jack wants everyone to know he was falsely accused. One of Kent's socks was missing and we suspected that Jack had taken it out to the backyard to use as a chew toy or buried it. I later found it hidden under some items I'd purchased but not yet put away. Sorry, Jack!

9-2-09 Something's Up

We knew something was up this morning because Mom didn't go to work today. But we thought she was just staying home to be with us, so we didn't pay much attention. Then all of a sudden Mom started taking stuff out to the car. Lots of stuff. Like when we go on a trip. Like when we go to the CABIN! We started to get so excited. Then Mom came in and asked, " Do you want to go to the cabin?" We got really excited then and ran over to where Mom keeps our leaskes so she could put them on us. Then it was out to the car and off to the CABIN!

8-24-09 Chloe's Got Bling!

Chloe thinks she's a princess. Mom thinks Chloe's a princess too. So Mom decided that Chloe needed a rhinestone collar. She saw one for $45 but thought that was a bit too much to pay. So she went to her favorite shopping web site ... eBay! She found a really cool collar for only $15. It's hot pink and it has sliding rhinestone charms on it. The rhinestones are clear & set into silver colored metal and spell out Chloe's name. She also has a pink rhinestone pirate skull charm. That's because besides being a princess she also has a bit of an attitude.

A Dog's Life

15 August 2009

Oh the ride home yesterday was sooo stressful. We just can't tell you how exhausted we are. We've done nothing but sleep today to make up for it. Must be some sort of travel lag thing making us so weary. Perhaps we will have more energy tomorrow. Gotta get back to sleep.

Goin' Home

14 August 2009

We have to go home today so we got an extra, extra long walk this morning. Leaving the cabin always makes mom sad because she loves it here. She says it is peaceful, and quiet, (except when we are barking) and beautiful here. So to make her happy we beagle wrestled for her. She thinks it is funny when we wrestle and it always makes her laugh. Chloe growls really loud when we wrestle so she sounds like she is a big tough dog. But she is really just a little tough dog.

Wild Creatures

12 August 2009

We took mom out for a really long walk this morning. We think she liked it.

We heard something in the bushes across the road from our cabin. Mom heard it too. We wanted to chase after it and kept pulling hard on our leashes trying to get up the dirt hill to where the wild creature was. Mom wouldn't let us loose. We howled, and barked but it was no use. You'd think she didn't trust us. It's like she thinks we'd go after the wild creature and never return again.

Oh yeah, she's right again.

We Rule the World

11 August 2009
Yippee! We're at the cabin on the Yuba River in Washington, California. We love it here. We get to be lazy and sleep all day, and bark at the dogs next door, and the cars, and people who pass by our cabin. Oh wait, that's what we do at home too. But it's prettier here and mom takes us for walks.

This morning we marked the entire length of road we walked. Now everyone will know we are here and that we own the entire river, and the town of Washington, and the state of California, and ... the WORLD! Yes, we rule the world so you'd better have our permission to pass or we will bark at you unceassingly.

On our walk this morning we saw a jack rabbit. It crossed the road way ahead of us but we are very alert and we saw it. We immediately pulled on our leashes and tried to hurry mom along so we could catch it, but she wouldn't let us. We just wanted to play with it. We like furry chew toys.
