Mom is on the computer A LOT so I don't get many chances to update my blog, but this weekend was great so I just had to tell everyone about it. Dad was off on Friday and very busy trying to get chores done. We like it when he's home because #1 we don't have to go into the crate all day, and #2 we can do pretty much anything we want cause he pretty much ignores us. Usually we sleep. Dad was busy in the back yard so he left the sliding glass door open so he could go in and out easily. That meant we could go in and out easily too. Next thing we knew he had left the gate open. So next thing he knew, we were gone. Yep, we went off on walkabout wherever our noses took us. We love trailing scents. We wandered all over the place. When Dad realized we were gone he ran all over the neighborhood trying to find us. He was pretty worried I guess. But eventually we headed back. We know we've got a good thing going on here.
On Saturday Dad was away in the morning and just Mom was at home. We pulled a good one on her. She heard me in the side yard barking like crazy and scratching at something. She yelled for me to come in and I didn't come, neither did Chloe. Mom ran outside to find us and she didn't see us anywhere. She didn't hear us either. She got very worried. She ran into the house, got dressed, then went out to the car to drive around to look for us. She drove all around the neighborhood and didn't see us anywhere so she went back home. She went out to the side yard again and called for us. We didn't answer but she heard our collars jingle and knew we were near. Then Mom went out to the front yard and called and then she went back into the house where she met Chloe who had suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Chloe tried to tell Mom where I was but Mom couldn't understand her. Mom went back out to the side yard and started checking out the fence near the gate, looking for our escape route. She pushed on the fence between our house and the neighbors and it moved, and there I was on the other side in the neighbor's yard. Then Mom pushed hard on the fence and I was able to get back into my yard again. Mom made us go into the house after that and wouldn't let us out again. When Dad got home she made him fix the fence. Now we can't escape into the neighbor's yard anymore. Rats!

Mom & Dad ruined the yard today
Mom and Dad ruined the yard today. The bushes along the back fence had grown up really tall and thick. The berry bushes were all growing into the geraniums and the oleanders and the other bushes. It was like a jungle and I loved it. I made a trail in there. I would go behind one bush and then under the low branches and in front of the next bush and then in back again. I had an area all hollowed out behind the bushes and it was lined with pine needles from our tree and it was really comfy in there. It was like a club house. When I was back there I could see out but you could not see in. I could hide in there and wait for unsuspecting kitties or squirrels. Then Mom and Dad decided the bushes had grown too big and needed to be cut down. I thought they were just going to cut the tall tops off and leave my yard alone. But they decided to do a lot of damage out there. They just kept chopping and chopping and chopping. I was out there with them the whole time watching everything they were doing. I kept going into my den to check it out. At first it was OK, I could still hide. But then they went too far and ruined it. Now I can't hide at all. It's all cut away and open. No more den. No more hiding and waiting for squirrels and kitties to come into the yard. My life is ruined.

DOG PARK OUTING
Oh we are the luckiest beagles ever. Mom took us to the dog park in Union City this afternoon and we had the best time. I found some big dogs to play with and I ran and ran and ran all over the park. Chloe even had a good time. She usually sits on the bench with Mom and just barks at all the dogs. Today she got off the bench several times and went and met some of the other beagles. She still got on the bench and barked, but she seemed to be barking at all the nonbeagles. I think she was telling them that this was a get together for the Bay Area Beagles Group and they weren't supposed to be there. But I didn't mind because I like playing with dogs that are bigger than me. When there are only beagles there I get bored.

IT'S OFFICIAL
Mom and Dad took us to Petco today. We had to get some shots. There were lots of dogs there and some cats too. We had to wait in line for a long time. It was hard being quiet. We wanted to bark at all the dogs and the people and especially the cats. But Dad made us be good. When it was our turn the doctor gave us our shots and then checked us out. She said Chloe is FAT. Ha Ha Ha. I said before that she was a PIG. Now it is official because the vet says she is fat. Mom calls her the Chunky Monkey. So Chloe is going to have to go on a diet. Ha ha ha!

SCORE!!!
Boy did I ever get lucky a couple of nights ago. My pretending to be a little dog really paid off. Cole was making a sandwich in the kitchen. Then he left to go talk to dad. It was a meatloaf sandwich and it smelled so good. It was just sitting there on the cutting board. So I stretched up big and I ate the whole thing. It tasted so good. When Cole got back to the kitchen he was really mad. But I was happy because I had a good sandwich all to myself.
And I'm gonna be sure to log off this time so Chloe can't get on and post anything. If she wants to have her say she needs to get her own blog.

Chloe's Turn
Finally! Now I get to have my say. Dumb old Jack forgot to log out of his diary so I got on and am gonna post whatever I want. First off, Jack is as dumb as a brick! I can steal his food any time I want to. He is so slow when he eats and is dumb enough to leave his bowl when it still has food in it. Sometimes I pretend that I heard a noise outside, like a squirrel or a cat prowling in our yard. All I have to do is mention it to Jack and he will run outside to check on it. Then I just go over to his bowl and eat all of his food. Ha ha ha.
Second, I hate other dogs. I tolerate Jack because I have to live with him, but all other dogs better stay out of my way. I will bark at anyone and anything that gets in my way. I even made a baby cry once because I barked at it. No mercy.
Third, I have no intention of going outside when it is freezing cold out there. I have my limits and I do NOT want to relieve myself out in the freezing cold. I prefer the warmth of the house and the nice soft carpet. If you want me to go outside, put a heater out there.
Fourth, I rule this house. I am the princess and I am cuter than any other dog on the planet and I know it!

Prison Break Beagle Style
Boy have we ever got Mom stumped. Now that it is cold and wet outside she puts us in the crate in the morning before she leaves for work. On Thursday we were locked into the crate as usual. But when Mom came home at the end of her day she could hear us barking right on the other side of the front door. She opened the door and there we were to greet her, with the door to our crate standing wide open. She cannot figure out how we got out of the crate. She is positive she locked it. She keeps asking us how we got out, but we're not tellin'!
